Delivery

Do you deliver to my area?

We deliver across Bromsgrove and the surrounding area. If you're in Aston Fields, Sidemoor, Charford, Catshill, Stoke Prior or Marlbrook, the quickest way to check is to pop your postcode into our online ordering page — it tells you straight away whether we can reach you. Still not sure? Give us a ring and we'll tell you before you order.

How much does delivery cost, and is there a minimum order?

The plain answer: a £13 minimum order and a £2 delivery charge — no hidden extras at checkout. For scale, a large cod (£9.60) and a regular chips (£4.50) come to £14.10, so one proper fish supper puts you over the line.

How long does delivery take?

Allow around 60 minutes. Everything is fried when you order it — nothing sits about under a heat lamp waiting for a driver — so it takes as long as good food takes. Hungrier than that? Collection is much quicker: usually 10 to 15 minutes.

Opening hours and collection

When are you open?

• Collection: Monday to Thursday 4.30pm–9.30pm; Friday and Saturday 12 noon–1.45pm and 4.30pm–9.30pm
• Delivery: Monday to Thursday 4.30pm–9pm; Friday and Saturday 12 noon–1.30pm and 4.30pm–9pm
• Sunday: closed — the fryers get a rest, and so do we

Do you open at lunchtime?

Yes — on Fridays and Saturdays the fryers are on from midday. Collection runs 12 noon to 1.45pm and delivery 12 noon to 1.30pm, then we're back for the evening from 4.30pm. Monday to Thursday it's evenings only.

How long will I wait if I collect?

Usually 10 to 15 minutes — long enough to fry it fresh, no longer. If you'd rather not wait at all, order ahead through our website, the app, or by phone on 01527 873228, and it'll be wrapped and ready when you walk in.

The food

Is it just fish and chips?

Fish and chips is the heart of what we do — Lincolnshire potatoes, fried in Frymax vegetable oil — but the menu goes well beyond it. There are kebabs (doner pitta £7.50, wraps from £5.50, or the Kebab Box with a cone of chips for £7.99), burgers from £4.50 — quarter-pound beef, chicken fillet or veggie, plus a battered halloumi burger at £6.00 — pies at £4.50 (steak and kidney, chicken and mushroom, steak and onion), pasties, sausages and southern fried chicken. Vegetarians are looked after too: the veggie burger, battered halloumi, halloumi pitta and cheese and onion pasty are all meat-free, and because we fry in vegetable oil, the chips themselves are vegetarian-friendly.

Do you do kids meals?

Yes — every kids meal is £4.99 and includes chips, a drink and a treat. Choose from a cod bite, a small sausage, three chicken nuggets or a fish cake. It keeps small people quiet for a good ten minutes, which we consider a bargain.

I have a food allergy, or I need gluten-free — can you help?

Please call us on 01527 873228 before you order. We'd much rather talk it through with you properly — what's in a dish and how it's prepared — than have anyone take a chance on something this important. A quick phone call and we'll give you a straight answer.

Ordering, payment and finding us

How do I pay?

Orders placed through our website or the app are paid for online at checkout. If you'd rather pay at the counter or on the doorstep, give us a quick ring on 01527 873228 and we'll confirm what's available before you order.

Can I order through an app?

Yes — the Ideal Fish & Chips app is free on the App Store for iPhone and Google Play for Android. It's rated 4.7 out of 5 by more than 1,200 customers on the Foodhub ordering app, and it remembers your usual order — handy when Friday tea-time comes round again.

Where is the shop?

You'll find us at 110 Birmingham Road, Bromsgrove, Worcestershire, B61 0DF — right on the main Birmingham Road, so if you're anywhere in B61 you're not far away. We hold a 5-star Food Hygiene Rating from the Food Standards Agency (inspected 19 July 2024), and the shop has been run by Terry Mouskos, a third-generation fish fryer, since 2008.
